Jump Start College Information Sessions
August 1, 2012 9:00 am - 11 pm OR 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This program is for Juniors and Seniors and their parents only, and there are two sessions to choose from. We will review the process for post-secondary planning:
- Which college or program is right for me? How do I start?
- What is the next step? What things do I need to do and when?
- What about financial aid? Where can I find scholarships?
These sessions will be highly interactive and there will be time for Q and A. Please plan to attend! The program will be held in the MHS Auditorium.

Combined Serious Stuff for Seniors/Just for Juniors Night

This evening is targeted for parents of students who are Juniors or Seniors. We will have a multi-part program. One part of the program will focus on the many itesm that Junior and Senior students need to accomplish as they pursue their post-secondary educational choices. A checklist of items will be provided, along with information on the SAT/ACT, what colleges are looking for, and more. Other parts of the program will explain the college application process, college visits, financial aid, and a section on the emotional changes seniors and parents face.
Open House - MHS

Come and meet your student's teachers on this evening. It is NOT a time for parent-teacher conferences, but we will gladly arrange a conference for you. Contact the Counseling Office to make an appointment.
New Student Luncheon

Students who are new-to-McIntosh will receive invitations to come and eat lunch with counselors. We will check out the transition process, share ways to get involved, and have some door prizes!
PROBE Fair at Sandy Creek High School

Over 100 colleges will be present at Sandy Creek High School for an informational fair on admission procedures, campus l ife, course offerings and more. Please don't miss this event! It is a "drop in" affiar and is for the whole family.
PSAT
October 17, 2012
The Preliminary SAT will be administered on
Wednesday this year. The PSAT is a great way to practice for the SAT and results are used to determine possible placement in Advanced Placement courses.
Juniors are strongly encouraged to take the PSAT as this is the only way to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. Watch the MHS website for more information about registration for the test.
Combined Sophomore/Freshmen Information Night
January 17, 2013 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
The final evening parenting program will focus on strategies to help your Sophomore and/or Freshman student make the most of his/her high school career. We will review study skill strategies, discuss course selection, and introduce you to the Georgia Career Information System and Georgiacollege411, both of which provide a wealth of information on career options, test taking, post-secondary institutions, etc.
Application Night

Dual Enrollment Programs - for Juniors and Seniors only

Come and learn about dual enrollment options available to our students. These programs allow students to earn high school and college credits simultanteously. Clayton State University personnel will be present to answer any questions that may be posed about the dual enrollment program.
Financial Aid Night

This evening is targeted for all parents, but especially for parents of junior and senior students.
A representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will explain the financial aid process, including the HOPE scholarship, HOPE Grant, and deadlines to remember. Please mark your calendars now.
National College Fair - Georgia World Conference Center
